SSI Divemaster

The SSI Divemaster is the first professional leadership level in the SSI diver training progression. This rating recognizes divers who have advanced skills, solid theoretical knowledge, and the ability to supervise and assist in diver training and recreational diving activities.

The SSI Divemaster is trained to:

  • Demonstrate a high level of personal diving skill and safety awareness

  • Have instructor-level knowledge of dive theory

  • Assist instructors during training sessions effectively

  • Take responsibility for the safety and enjoyment of other divers

Goals of SSI Divemaster training:

  • Organize, conduct, and supervise recreational dives both from land and boats

  • Assist SSI Instructors in teaching divers safely and effectively

  • Develop theoretical knowledge to a level suitable for further instructor training

  • Prepare candidates for SSI Assistant Instructor and Instructor-level courses

Prerequisites & Requirements:

  • Minimum age: 18 years

  • Certified SSI Advanced Adventurer / Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent)

  • Certified SSI Stress & Rescue / Rescue Diver (or equivalent)

  • Minimum 40 logged dives for course entry; 60 logged dives required for certification

  • CPR and First Aid certification within the last 24 months

  • Good physical condition for diving and a medical clearance form
